Martin Byrom




Martin Byrom is the firm`s Senior Partner. He followed his father and joined Howarth Maitland from University in 1969 before qualifying as a solicitor in 1971 having completed his articles with the firm.

A past President of the Bury and District Law Society, Martin brings his experience and expertise to the areas of commercial and residential conveyancing, business leases, Wills and probate.

Stephen Holland




Stephen Holland joined Howarth Maitland in 1981 and qualified as a solicitor in 1984 having completed his articles with the firm. He became a Partner in 1986.

Stephen’s area of practice is wide ranging including family cases, personal injury claims and employment law.

Stephen is a member of the Law Society Children Panel reflecting his particular interest in child care cases. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Personal Injury Law.

Philip Thompson




Philip Thompson qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and joined Howarth Maitland as a Partner in 1996.

Philip specialises in all areas of family law, his expertise being reflected in his membership of the Law Society Family Law Panel.

Geoffrey Rosenthal



Geoffrey Rosenthal qualified as a solicitor in 1976 and worked for many years as a Partner in a substantial Manchester practice before joining Howarth Maitland in 2006.

Geoffrey’s areas of expertise include general conveyancing, boundary and neighbour disputes, the law relating to partnerships, Wills and probate, advice for the elderly, Court of protection and powers of attorney.

Claire Nichols



Claire Nichols joined Howarth Maitland as a conveyancing executive in 2007.

She is a highly experienced residential conveyancer and a member of the Institute of Legal Executives.
